TIPS to find your best suiting bridal coverup
The question is: Do you need a bridal bolero? Many brides would like to show their wedding dress in all its glory. I was very different in my wedding planning; a knitted bridal jacket for my wedding was the first thing I dreamed of. That's why I searched a long time to find a thin knit jacket matching a bridal dress.
Nowadays in 2007 I could not find any wedding knit jacket in the north of Germany.
I remembered the many pullover I had knitted as I was a child and later in my twenties ... and knitted the bridal jacket by myself.
We got married in September; both at the registry office and at our champagne reception on the river Elbe, I was happy to have my cardigan with me. Even in summer, nobody really knows what the weather will be at the wedding day.
A jacket for a wedding dress is always a good idea, because in the church or in the park it can be fresh or shady.

1. Which color off white, ivory or cream?
The color of the wedding dress is important to select the right bolero. Most wedding dresses are ivory - that's an off white - no pure white. The best color choice of your cardigan in this case is: off white.
Some brides wear a colored wedding dress, for example in a light rose powder or flowered. In the southern region, people often like to get married in a festive dirndl. Or the dress is in a distinct cream. Choose your jacket or your bridal jumper in cream for your wedding dress.
Here you can see Elly left in cream and right in off white.
A beautiful addition to a white or ivory-colored bridal gown is the color powder. This Boleromacht makes the white softer and produces an optical cappuccino effect. Here you can see the model Marie, which can be worn with and without cord. Brides, who visit me in the studio, choose very often the powder toned jackets or pullover. It looks warm and makes the bridal outfit soft and harmonious for the eye. After that, the color can be combined to almost anything.
Marry in pink, light blue, turquoise or any other color of your choice. If you want to complement your wedding dress with a color other than off white, ivory or cream, then you can choose from Beemohr under a wool range of about 20 different colors.
Cashmere: we knit in these colors
My favorites are pink and light blue - beautiful colors for a wedding.

2. Which size do I choose?
The size that you usually wear fits best, in case of doubt choose a size larger unless you like it a bit looser. If you are tall or have longer arms, we can gladly knit arms or body parts in the length you wish.

3. Which wool is best for my jacket?
I searched and tested for a long time until I found the perfect wool for our bridal jackets:
- Cashmere with silk
- Baby alpaca with silk
- Baby alpaca with silk + cashmere with merino in the mix for the thicker jackets we Sofie and Julia
- Kid Mohair in different qualities.
1. Cashmere Bolero to marry
Cashmere wool is delicate and super soft. These jackets are perfect for the wedding. They are gorgeous and very skin friendly.
This is the bridal pullover CLOE. In the pictures you can see the delicate look of the cashmere sweater. We can knit this model for you with V-neck. Adjustments are possible.
2. Jackets and sweaters for brides from baby alpaca
Baby alpaca with silk is also soft, but a bit sturdier than cashmere. The alpaca colors are wonderfully suitable for wedding dresses.
The model Kathy is made of baby alpaca - here in off white - knitted. We can also customize this model if you want a V-neck or 3/4 arm.
3. Bridal jackets warm for autumn brides and winter brides
That was my longest experiment. I wanted exactly the right wool for wedding dresses. Yarn that did not pass my tests:
- Cotton without special features
- Alpaca, which brought no flausch
- Wool in a mottled tone
- Wool scratching
- Wool that appears in a yellowish cream
- Industrial yarns, which are treated chemically, so that they can be entangled and then need to be re-treated consuming.
It was not easy to find the perfect wool for festive jackets. But my search was worth it. I've found:
☆ a beautiful alpaca as a hand knitting yarn: soft and comfortable to wear
☆ A soft cashmere / merino mix as a supplement
The result is a soft jacket, with a light feeling and a beautifully smooth knit pattern, including an excellent color look fsuiting bridal gowns.
This wool does not smell, does not scratch and does not need to be washed often as it is breathable. You will not sweat a with jackets made of polyacrylic.
So you can dance at your wedding and pour out adrenaline without sweating sweaty under the jacket.
Here are some models that are knitted from this mix: Kim and Helena.
4. Cardigans made of kid mohair
From mohair we knit delicate jackets like this shrug in the color: light blue and dusty pink. The jacket is well suited for weddings in spring and summer.
Hand-knitted bolero from a thicker fluffy mohair in many colors. These cardigans are usually very loose and fall well over your wedding dress. Knitted, they are in a rough stitch, which makes them soft and comfortable to wear.
